Manager Workers Compensation, Claims Manager, Legislation and Technical Manager

QBE has recently been appointed to manage one of three Workers Compensation Portfolios for the NSW Governments Treasury Managed Fund, commencing with New Claims in January 2010. Due to this substantial business growth, we are seeking a Technical Manager to work in Newcastle. This is a pivotal role with a focus on providing legislative, technical and general claims advice to all Branch members with an aim to deliver soundly based decisions and to foster a positive non adversarial culture. In this role you will support the business unit through the setting of strategies and development of procedures to deliver quality outcomes in branch performance. In addition this role will involve the training of staff, regular review of the claims portfolio, completion of internal and external audits and the analysis of data to monitor performance and drive opportunities for continuous improvement. We are seeking candidates with: * Significant experience in workers compensation case management, with specific understanding of managing litigated claims. * A thorough understanding of legislative processes and the application of legislative instruments. * Coaching, training and team building skills with the ability to drive performance. * A client focus, with proven ability to build and manage effective and sustainable relationships. * Sound decision-making skills to drive quality outcomes in challenging and sensitive situations. * Strong leadership and influencing skills. * A tertiary qualification in Business, Health or Law is highly regarded. As an integral member of the Branch, you will participate in branch meetings and contribute to best practice and process improvement activities. It is expected that you will be able to work closely with the Branch management team to influence case management outcomes.
